I have had one rope fish for almost 2 yrs and it was doing fine. My local store finally got some more rope fish in and my son was anxious to add to his rope fish collection. We purchased a rope fish, another in the tank was looking rough, but it was the only one...its skin almost reminded me of the white spots a snake gets under it before it peels. The rope fish I bought had jumped into another tank and was alone and looking fine. Anyway the new rope fish was fine, but after about 5 days it too started getting that look and died within one day. Now our older rope fish is starting to get spots. Is there ANYTHING i can do to help this fish?

Any known diseases that would cause this and treatment???? My son has autism is going to be devistated if his favorite fish dies. It's his pride and joy of his fish tank!!!!!!

not sure, you might want to do a quick search for both "Velvet" and "Columnaris". check out pics that you find and see if either of those look like what your rope fish is experiencing. Columnaris is usually a gram-positive infection (very fast spreading), but you may be able to knock it out with a maracyn 1 and 2 combo. velvet i don't have much knowledge of, except that a COMPLETE blackout of the tank is necessary because it thrives on light.
