I have had my 3 rope fish for 4 and a half years now and in that time I have never seen the fight until today I was doing a water change and filter clean when I noticed a disturbance my biggest rope fish had lathed on one of the others tail it broke free and a fight broke out this lasted for about 3 minutes when they then came fae to face this is when I thought things could get serious but they both backed down. I have now noticed that they may have been fighting over a bog wood cave that the biggest one has occupied that cave.

I’m sure it happens when ur eyes aren’t on the tank. Ropes will be most interactive with their own kind, whether good or bad.

Did you happen to notice if it was a same sex fight or male female? Ive got a couple females and a couple males for sure. 1 big female gets hounded by a couple of the males from time to time. Eventually she gets mad and will grab them usually by the face and usually they scamper away when she lets go. Sometimes its a little more of a fight but the female always wins and there is usually no real damage done. All mine pretty much stay in the same places too.

not sure of their sex I know it was the biggest one that was the most aggressive no damage though

when I get a chance I will have a look the main agressor is still guarding the bog wood cave my senegal is in there as well but the rope dosen't seem to mind the senegal being in there.

Interesting I have four Rope fish and my biggest just grabbed / attacked the smallest on the tail , thou the smallest easily broke free the large one did pursue it for a short period then gave up, now all is back to normal all four out feeding with no Incident. Like yours mines have been living together for years
