Im 90% sure that i have a male and i just ordered a female and i would LOVE to breed them. I have read all over the place that it is impossible or at least very difficult to breed them. I still want to try and would like to hear suggestions on things that could help them feel more comfortable or more inclined to breed.
Things like: pH, plants, substrate, current, foods, tankmates....anything else??
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I've also heard it's very difficult to breed them.

What I do know is that they love hiding spots and plenty of plants to swim around. They also do very well with a temperature of around 82-83 degrees F.

well my temp right now is 83.7 and everyone looks happy but im gonna bump it down to about 80-82 over the next week or so, i have some plants and i am going to make a cave or two for them...any other suggestions?

They are related to polys you could try breeding them like p.sengals beblondie's poly primer has some good advice . The basics seem to be try to recreate the rainy season but if they are like other polys your big problem may be raising the fry.
ps I have no idea if it would work but it make sense to start there

Ok i'll start there, any other suggestions?

patience and observation

from what i heard if they do breed and the fry come the hardest part is getting them to eat
did you hear that from anyone specific? if so i would love to get in touch with them if they have any experience!

wow nice nice very nice im also planing to breed these guys^^ my advice is isolate a pair and put lots of moss in it.. or simply make a sinking spawning mop. that's what i did in breeding my platinum bichir .. sadly cant seem to find the right fry food hehehe goodluck!!
