well i got a rope fish frome someone that was not taking care ot the tank. every thing els died in that tank. i have a 20g i put him in to medicate if needed. but how long should it be by itself to make sure he is ok and not infect my big tank?it seems to act normal eating good, vary active and all that but i dont want to take a chance. why do people buy animals (fish in this case)with no plans on taking care of them?a tank only looks as good as the amount of efort you put into it.sorry for the rant.but i just dont get it

A month is standard.Keep him in for atleast a month and keep a good eye on him,aslo make sure every open area of the tank top is taped,rope fish loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to climb out of tanks and most likely will,so just tape up the open areas on your lid.
ya i know about the sealing of the tank when i first got home and let it go in the 20 as soon as he touched the water he came shooting back out good thing he just shot right back into the bag and thats when the light came on i better seal it up
