Judging by the title, you can probably assume that I have a multitude of issues. You'd be correct.
Let's start from the beginning.
Sarah Pickle Lemon got her big girl tank. 300 gallons. Right now, we're a small Arowana in a big tank.
WELL. I obviously had to get her and her friends out of the 125 to change tanks, and there was a four day layover. So the silver dollars moved to a tank upstairs, Ropefish moved to his own little 20 gallon, and Sarah moved to a temp tank on the kitchen floor.
Well, i get the 300 set up. its a little different than the 125. the 125 had blacked out sides and a back. new tank doesn't. old tank had much dimmer lighting than new tank. old tank had a much higher scape than new tank.
I'm going to make the scape higher so Sarah has something to hide in. but for now, it's the best I got.
She's hiding by the bottom, and the giant gourami won't come out either.***There was a thunderstorm earlier today, maybe that could have something to do with it? Im hoping its new tank syndrome and they're just scared, but how do I make them feel better? Also should be noted that they wont eat but that's expected and i'm not concerned and wont be for a little while.*** filter stayed the same, I had two sumps running for a bit there. the old one and the new, bigger, better one. I was running the old one to get the BB throughout the new one. Water parameters have evened out and everything looks good.
So point one is Sarah and gourami are scared, how do I help?

2) the silver dollars ended up covered in ich. So i immediately put them in quarantine and i'm treating with heavy filtration + air, heat, and melafix. Ich is looking much better. Fins are not. I initially thought it was fin rot, but upon further investigation i'm thinking its nipping. Unsurprising, since they're in a much smaller tank than they're used to. But i want opinions. pics below, rot or nip? Do you think they're safe to be back in big tank? it's been four days in QT with medicine.

3)Ropefish. Ropefish developed a weird white slime, like something is going on with his slime coat. I put him in OT as well. his color has gotten a little darker and you can tell he's kinda pissed he's in a smaller tank too. But like Idk what to tell him. I tried to get it to show up in pictures the best I could. but things only photograph so well. Whats going on with the slime coat? any ideas?

4) Sarahs new tank. Acrylic. you can tell by the scratches. The stand is 6 inches bigger than the tank. so my friend and i had this great idea for like a real jungle behind the tank. great time, right? I'm thinking lots of dark plants, etc. but is it going to be dark enough or do i need to abandon that idea and just go with black plastidip? **The jungle val came from a very very healthy tank and is only in there because the silver dollars aren't and i have a little while to actually enjoy plants in that tank before they remind me that im not allowed to have nice things.

***There is a foam on the surface of the QT tank due to melafix and high circulation.
**there are bioballs on the surface just to aid in BB. the filter in there is already established and running on a good tank but just to be sure. Not sure if it did anything more than offer me peace of mind but whatever.
**also i am NOT editing this. Sorry for the lack of care and capitalization.
***silver dollars scales look extra rough from the move i promise i don't abuse my fish.

Thank you for reading my novel, I'll be here all night for autographs. Do not expect to see my name on the New York best sellers list.

SD looks like fin nip... i have same issues with some of the SDs too even in a 180 gallon tank

for the aro.. you may consider dividing the tank in half.... scary for a kid to be in a huge space. you can also try to put some water lettuce or water hyacinth on top level of tank to give some sense of security

I got some ropes fairly recently and they brought with them ich. They developed it first and I was shocked 1st because of where they came from and 2nd how long they were there. It looked very simular to whats on yours. I was unsure it was ich as they dont usually get it like that but a few other fish got ich too. I treated with higher temps and ichx. I had to treat twice as long as it said but it went away and has been gone over a month. All the ropes and cats and my puffer all survived and are healed. I learned a valuable lesson I dont care where it comes from its going into a qt. If that means I need to set up a special tank with locking lids to keep critters like ropes in then that is what will happen. See if you can get a better pic of the rope. Im no expert but it looks very simular if it were me again I'd treat for ich. Good luck

Added lettuce. I have more if you think I need it. We shall see

possible to off 1 side of the lights or shift the lights to 1 side?

hopefully it helps

I ended up going to the place that tinted my car windows and got some 30% tint and tinted the lights lol. but now, because of all the stress, we're dealing with Ich. So yeah, not gonna lie things could be going a little better. hoping for a speedy and full recovery and so far, we're looking good.
