Ok I am at petco today and they have a fish for sale called rope fish. They are about 10 inches long and look like like a poly. I'm not sure what it is actually. But the 10 inch rope fish is 12.99. They are beautiful  but nobody at the store knew anything about them.

questions are...

what are they?
how big do they get?
what do they eat?
are they aggressive?
would they be suitable with a clown knife and ghost knife?
nocturnal?

anyone????? i would love to keep this fish but i need to know more before i buy

They are escape artists. They are a member of the polypterid family. They eat bloodworms, pellets, small fish...None of mine have shown any aggression whatsoever. Clumsy yes, aggressive no. I don't see any problems with the knives, until the clown gets big and the rope looks like spaghetti. They usually do better in small groups and can get to 36 in the wild, but average 18-24 in aquaria. I only wish my petsmart had them, I'd grab a couple more.

My petco/petsmarts never have anything cool like that. I probably wouldn't buy from there anyway as the ones near me usually don't know anything about anything.

they are a great pet. much like Bichirs. fun to watch bumble around the aquarium

what are they? Its the only member in the second genus of the family Polypteridae the big differences being the elongated eel like form and lack of pelvic fins
how big do they get?18-24 inches in captivity
what do they eat?small fish, crustaceans, insect larvae etc.
are they aggressive? They are generaly non agressive
would they be suitable with a clown knife and ghost knife?until the clown or ghost gets big,African brown knife fish would be a better choice
nocturnal?dinural
As stated these are escape artists all opening MUST be plugged also lower the water level of the tank 3-4 inches-Anne
