i just bought a 8" rope fish and uh what do i feed it?is it like every other bichir?would mealworm work as its food or carnivore sinking pellets?

they are like bichirs they are whatever...you are gonna want to vary the diet from meal worms though.
get some meaty food like fish and shrimp. they can get sick without variety

oh i see ima post an update on my bichirs

Some ropefish are picky eater but once been introduce to varied diet then they will eat just like bichirs. They are also slow growers compare to bichirs. Once they hit 10-12", expect them to grow 1-2 inches per year and sometime even more or will not grow at all.

shrimp and earthworms chopped up into small pieces is best for them. They can get surprisingly thick on the right diet :D

I agree. I got my 13" and it's almost the same thickness as my 12" male senegal bichir.

That sounds like a very impressive rope! I wish we would see more like that out there.

Here are some pics of them. Note the albino senegal is 9" long and the lapradei is around 15". The first ropefish pic is 14" and the second ropefish pic 18".
