Hey guys well I was playing with some ideas in my head and I thought of one and the more I thought about it the more interested I was. I was thinking about a ropefish tank only type set-up. I'm wondering what size tank would be good for 3-5 of them and maybe what the dimensions might be. I have a 75g right now that could be used, but I thought that maybe a 120 (4x2x2) would be better. However if I can't get a 120 with those dimensions how many ropes can I have in my 75? Thanks

In a 75G alone you can house around 10 E. Calabaricus

I'd say depends on the size of the ropes themselves, when they all start getting larger you may want to go with a 120 but a 75 would be fine for quite a while I feel

Well they might start out small but they'd be living their lives out in the tank so assuming their full grow how many?

i think 10 would be pushing it, i have one almost full grown in a 70 at about 14 inch and picturing another 9 in there seems like a little much. Id say about 6 or 7 would be a good number to go with for a 75, i think 10 would be good for the 120

What about a 60x12x12 tank? How many could fit in there if any?

I think 5 is a comfortable number to keep in a 75. I've always wanted to set up a rope only tank with lots of dense vegetation. They get more and more impressive as they reach adult size.

when you said dense vegetation it makes me think of making the tank a jungle pyramid type set-up with all the ropes swimming in and out of the decor.

In a standard 75gl tank you can put up to 7-10 depending on tank mates if any. They will have more then enough room to cruise around in, as the ones that get larger above 20inches you could easily move them to your main tank, lots of fake or live plants will do these guys good, but be careful of rocks and wood that they can get under as they may get stuck and drown.
