I assume they belong in the Poly section....
Anyway my question is, do Ropefish grow much in width? I keep seeing really long ones but none seem to be any wider than the short ones at lfs'. I ask because my g/f really wants to get one but I plan on having Oscars in my large tank and I've seen a pic of a ropefish tail sticking out of an oscars mouth. So if kept seperate until after a bit of growth do they stop looking like food?

not really. they're slow growing (at least once they're past 12" or so), and they don't gain a lot of girth, although females can be a bit thicker near the belly as they age. but overall, still a slim looking fish.

Yup,, just a big worm. :D

just like a big TASTY worm

I had a 17 inch one as big as my finger around but after 5 years he decided he had enough and some how got out of his fort knox home?The cat brought half of him too me:{

Mine have gotten significantly longer but not much wider. They are good at escaping but not at defending themselves. One of mine loves to taunt the BGK (who could end him in a heartbeat) by swimming around it just out of reach of its mouth.
