On a scale of one to bacon, how well do your ropefish get along with any of your other fish? I hear a lot of mixed reviews about them and would like to hear some input from you guys.

My ropefish is still small, but he really seems to get along with my Senegal, and my eels. He has a ton of personality and brings a lot to the tank.
I am told however, that i should be prepared for missing tetras as he gets bigger.

My ropefish is one crazy bastard. He choses to live in my external filter during day. I have no clue how he do that. I searched like crazy but then noticed that he swims through the pipe into the filter at day and then at evening goes back into the tank. He do that since years now.

Ropefish get along with all fish they can't eat apart from fish with long fins like swordtails bettas, some knifefish etc. My ropefish always bit the tails off these fish :( But apart.from that they are very peaceful.

ropefish tend to be peaceful but will eat what fits in their mouth. Mine hasnt bothered any of the other fish,(senegals, ompok, bgk). He goes nuts for earthworms and aggressively performs "death rolls" and shoots across the tank hitting everything when he gets a big worm. I have heard they are quite social. I bought another rope for the one I already had, but when they were introduced, it was quite a fight. Never saw aggression from ropes before but the big one would not stop attacking the new guy. and by big one, i mean maybe 2" bigger. They are now seperated and are doing very well in quite different conditions. one at 77F and the other at 86F

They are group fish, maybe yours were both males? I have a male and two females and they get along perfectly :)

Thats what I always thought! I couldnt believe it when it got so violent. and for their personality and activeness, on your scale I would give them bacon

Yh one of my lfs seems to always have ropefish for some reason. One day soon I'll hope to purchase one or two when I get the cash. How good are they in a planted tank though?
