Hey guys just wanted to get your opinion. A few days ago, one of my five roseline had some discoloration on his scales on his back in front of his dorsal. Figured he had just run into a branch since the rest of the fish were not affected. Woke up this morning and now he’s got the same discoloration on the back. Either he’s getting hit during the night by another fish or bacterial. What’s your thoughts since every other fish is fine?

Looks like some lost scales. Add some salt 1tsp per gallon. Should clear up. This is a good area for fungus to start. Keep an eye out and update the thread when able.

good to hear thanks for the help! and thats going to be alot of salt with a 330 gallon tank and about 50 gallons in the sump lol. gunna be a pain to try and net that guy and get him in a hospital tank

Either that or can dip the fish in methylene blue. This is a better and easier option.

Can be bought online. Some lfs will have it or able to order it. My lfs happens to carry it and will order it’s well. I usually order online thru eBay as it’s cheaper.

It’s used as a dip and it’s mixed with water and become diluted. Can use it on a qtip not diluted and apply to the area of concern.

Will stain the container or basin plan on using blue. Including ur hands...learned the hard way.

Do what’s easier for you. Salt to the tank will work as well for this case.

No need for a spong filter. Can use some tank water. Yea can use a 5g bucket. Dose accordingly.
