I was thinking of purchasing about 4 or 7 roseline sharks however i dont have much experience in take care of them before.

Just wondering, do they nip other fish?

i was contemplating on buying them and placing them in the same tank as 4 hujeta gar (about 4 inches each), 1 delhezi bichir (5 inches) and 1 very stable Indo Tiger Datnoid (about 2 1/2 inches).

what do you guys think? so far ive already did research on the species, but also want to know other people's experience with the fish as well.

I heard that these fish are very stunning and are fun to watch in a tank. and can grow up to 6 inches if conditions are perfect.

sorry, no experience with them, but if it were me, I'd only buy captive bred.

Practical Fishkeeping said in the January 2009 issue that research from India suggests that the species is being over-exploited for the aquarium trade, they are in danger of extinction.

any other opinions?

I have kept hundreds of them. The only problem i ever had was them nipping at the cardinals when they were tiny.
Other than that, i kept them in planted community tanks and never had a problem.

so when theyre small, theyll nip?

had about 20 of them for almost 2 years. pretty peaceful and active. never bothered any of my small or big fish. only problem was that they hog all the food. since they are fast and active they would always be the one eating first. they are pigs. very nice fish and active. they enjoy cooler temps and high currents.

I have 2 groups of five of them in two different tanks. One tank is planted and has very tiny celestial danios in there. The other has a breeding trio of aspistograma in it no problem with then picking on either of species. Also I used to have one in a tank with killifish and other in with a pair of electric blue jack dempsey. They seem to be very adaptive.

One thing to really look at its prices on them. Here in colorado In the last week I've seen them priced anywhere from 4.99 to 28.99 each for fish the same size just depends on where your pick them up. I also got the ten I currently have on sale at petsmart in april for 3.49 and they are about 3-4 inches.

alright thanks! im looking to buy about 7 of them (hopefully about 2-3 inches) in 1 tank with a couple of bichirs (that are 5-6 inches). i dont think my bichirs will eat them though :P

I have a group of around 8 in a 90 gallon wave tank and they seem to be model citizens. Although, someone has been chewing on my Anubias plants. I can't determine the culprit but it seems the Roselines are in the clear! :)
