What is the stocking level for these handsome fish? Most internet searches seem to say a 55 gallon and to for 6 as they are a schooling fish. Any that I've seen in display tanks don't really seem to school much, atleast not like tetras, rasboras and the like. I have a platned 38 gallon 3'x'12"x20" with a pair of angels, male and female apisto double red, a school of cardinals and an l200 pleco. Would say 3 be ok in this? I'm able to get some at a pretty good price. Thanks.

They can and will school in groups of 3 but make a much more dramatic school and display in larger groups. Just remember that they do get quite large if you can find true Puntius denisonii.

These guys can get 6"! I think 36" should be long enough for a few to swim around but I think 48" would be alot better and with a larger school.

I had a group of six. I found their growth rate to be pretty slow, and they schooled together a lot more tightly in a 6' tank. I found they could actually get pretty aggressive kept in a smaller tank, so watch out for that.

They are schoolers. My brother has about 7 in a 150 gal tank.
