We finally managed to tumble some rostratus eggs to frt they about a half inch or so now so we are feeling a little more confident they should make it. We have never seen such strong fry before my wife found that by using a fine strainer and a air difuser I think it was called we have had good luck tumbling eggs these little rostratus swam out of the strainer with their egg sacs and were free swimming and you can almost see them grow.

I think you will really like them they are very active fish how many did you get you will want at least 4 or 5 females for 1 male as he can be a little harassing at times also the bigger the tank the better. How big are your juves now they do grow quick and it may take a little while to pick out the males.

We grew out two fossies. One colored up nicely and grew much larger than the other which remained silver.

At two years the silver one @ 9" colered up and had a growth spurt. Now one is 12" and the other is catching up but is subdominant in color. When he colors up they fight and two 12" fish rumbling inna 6' tank is a sight to behold.

About three months ago we picked up two more 1-1/2" fry, they are ~ 3" now and I hope to get at least one girl from them. Gonna rehome the subdom male.

We bought a few more to go with ours awhile back and had one color up suddenly moved him and one female into another tank and he is colored up nice now

7 that is a nice size group I did'nt realize they were jumpers until I heard them when I shut the lights out give thwm a sang or fine gravel bottom in the tank they like to bury in it when scared. At 3 to 4 inches they won't be long till they are breeding I think the male needs to be 6 to 8 inches fenales will be smaller.

Our fry are doing well around a half inch now and eating like pigs.
