We have a freshwater community tank (occupants in Signature), and were thinking about adding another small group of top/mid level fish. Ideally, we would like to have 2 different groups. My wife would like a second small group of Rosy Barbs, to have 2 shoals, but I'm more of the mind that they'd just become 1 larger group, instead of 2 different groups.

That aside, what would be other suggestions. Primary concerns are compatibility, temperament, and coloration. Easy going, brightly colored, non-aggressive fish. Our natural second choice is a group of Neons, but I'm kind of thinking I'd like something less "common". Not that Neons are bad, obviously, I'd just like something to start a bit more of a conversation.

I would suggest some Lampeye Tetra, or Black Phantom Tetra. Both look nice in schools, are inexpensive and stricking in appearance IMO. If you get more rosey barbs there won't be two shoals of them, just one big one. Good luck.

I was worried about that, but the missus was being optimistic.. Thanks for the feedback and input! I'll look into both of those Tetras! :)
