I got what i reckon to be a pair of these yesterday. Weve had them in the shop for a while now and ive always fancid them but i couldnt really buy them due to the risk of a ray eating them but now theyve gone i picked em up.

Theyve been showing signs of spawning in the shop, but to prevent stunting im keeping them in a 6x2x2 and i cant imagine them breeding in there.

The males about 3,5" the female around 2.5". They are my fave species of severus and ive always wanted to keep them. They have been on my wishlist for a long time. They arent showing full colour yet so ill give it a few days and ill get a few pix.

Nice pick up, you wont regret it. There isnt any problem with them breeding at that size, mine started breeding at that size and now the male is 7'' and the female is hitting 6''.

Thats awesome. I am growing 10 at the moment. Any advice in sexing these rotkeils?

I have 5 right now the males get lil worm like marking like green sevs the females ar more plain in the head area

you can sex by the freckles on gill plates. males will have freckles, females will not
