About a month ago, I picked up a pair of wild-caught Rotkeil Severums (about 4-5 inches) at my LFS. The two were getting ready to spawn in the tank - they had dug a pit and were chasing off the other fish - and appear to be a male (he has the facial markings) and a female. When I brought them home and put them in the tank, for the first few days they swam around together. Now, however, the male simply chases the female around.
I've tried upping the tank temp and doing water changes, but to no avail. I'm starting to think I need another large fish (the two are the only large fish in the tank) to get them to "team" up.
Would it be better to get:
Another large female sev
Another large male sev
A male and a female (temporarily - until I get a pair)
Something else?
The tank is a 120 stocked with the two sevs, four 4" geo Tapajos, 2 2" inch rotkeils (bought these before I got the pair), 1 2" gold sev, 2 3" clown loaches, 1 King Tiger Pleco, 2 Albino Bristlenose Plecs.
