Rotkeil severum update 12 months later

I got my Rotkeil last December from my LFS,
he is F1 and the parents are absolutely stunning so i had to have one!
unfortunately i didnt realise how slow these guys take to colour, well at least this one did, but all in all it was worth it

First picture i took of him=)

so far looking like a yellow anal finned green severum, i was kind of hoping i didnt get ripped off.

around november 2009

finally starting to shape up and colour nicely, hes around 6" in this picture.

And this is him today

quality isnt all that great of the picture but you can see hes around 7-8" now and starting to become colourfull and aggressive, people always ask me what type of severum he is and that he is beautiful so i guess my quest for a beautiful F1 Rotkeil is almost complete now we just wait for more growth.

I will take a few shots of mine and throw them on here. Did you know you were getting a Rot? All my severums were sold to me as greens. One turned out to be a gold, and one is a Rot. One other has only one good eye (the other is the size of a ball point pen tip), but I think hes a green. He is never light colored tho.. almost black.

heres a picture i took of his father who is a wild caught

now thats what a 5 year old wild caught male looks like, how can i tell that mines female?
i assumed it would just turn like that later on, however the place i got mine from had a male one that coloured up when it was 4" and mine took about 6months to get any kind of colour lol
