Rotkeil Severum - white spots

Hi all,

I have a 350 litre fish tank and a pair of golden severums and four rotkeils. about two weeks ago the Rotkeil alpha male has started to breath heavily close to the surface and lost its appetite. Shortly after, it started showing up white spots at the upper part of its body. Also there seems to be a small hole underneath its right nostril.
I am pretty sure that it is not ich, as it has been having these symptoms for 2 weeks already and the other fish don't have it.
I have used both esha 2000 and esha exit twice with a large 50% water change in between and also added sea salt to the tank. However the condition of the fish has not improved.

All other fish show no sign of disease or illness.

But what are those white spots? These are not normal injuries...

I'm not a 100% sure what that is. I would try API General Cure it's a combination of Metro and Prazi. Also add aquarum salt at a rate of 1tbls per 5gallons of water. Please report back results. We can try somthing else if this doesn't help.

Hi Aquanero, unfortunately API General Cure is not available here in the UK. Is there any other medication you could recommend? The only products API seems to be distributing is Melafix and Primafix http://www.apifishcare.co.uk/Products/Product.aspx?ProductID=177

Do a 50% water change add the aquarium salt as I suggested. Do you have acess to copper sulfate, methylene blue, formalin or malachite green. Keep the environment clean and treat with the salt until you can get to the store and keep the tank dark. You should treat the whole tank now too. Ask at the LFS what they have to treat for Velvet.
