I finally know for sure. My two Rotkeil severum are male and female. I have had them for a while and they had not, until recently, shown any signs of spawning. The female produced about 200+ eggs. Unfortunately, I moved the flat stone that the eggs were deposited on to another tank. The eggs fungused, although, there were some free swimming fry. I went out of town for a week after moving the stone. Hopefully, I'll be able to care for the new arrivals next time. I will definitely add an anti-fungal to the water.

Very cool. These are really great fish. I'm still waiting for the nine I have to start pairing up. Good luck with the next batch. Question tho, how long have you had them? And how big are they now?

Keep us posted . I have green severum eggs in a hatching tank now (2 days ) that should be hatching in the next day . I found with the greens that feed flake for a few days ,water change, bump temp up an couple of degrees and feed frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp works for spawning (as good as putting in a Barry White CD) . Mine are on the third attempt - first time I took the eggs (mom ate eggs on day3 each time so far )

The fish are about 6 - 7 inches in length. I have had them for about a year and a half. They are now on their third spawn. I was able to remove the stone with the eggs into a small tank. I added methylene blue. Some eggs fungused, but not many. The fry are free swimming and eating bbs and fry food. They seem to be doing well.

sweet, congrats
