Three weeks ago I moved my aro to his new tank.. Things went well and he was eating within a couple of days. Last Friday the ICH appeared, I decided to treat with heat (84 degrees) and salt(2 doses of one tablespoon per 10 gallons). So I was giving the second dose of salt Saturday night, by dumping 1 tablespoon into the tank at a time. My silver decided to come over a have a bite. Bad news, first he swam franticly spittting out salt crystal for about 30 seconds, then seemed OK. The next day he started just sitting on the bottom of the tank and he quit eating. Finally today he is acting normal, started eating again and the ICH is gone.

Ya know I've heard many a time "disolve the meds in water before adding into the tank" well now I understand why.

Well I guess in support of my aro, I probably deserve some flamming for this...

Iv done the same thing I don't think the salt will hurt it anyways congratulations on curing your fish

Just for the future aros can handle a tablespoon per 5 gallons. I keep this in my aquarium at all times.

yep, that is what he got, I just did it in 2 doses.

Glad he is doing okay.. :)

Yea i usually put the salt in the filter on the top and it usually dissolves there...Good job getting rid of ich and glad its doing better:)

 Good job of curing the aro!

Yeah, I usually put the salt into a folgers coffee container (red plastic) with water from the sump..let it dissolve..and dump it into the sump.

the fact of her eating the salt is, in itself, good news..no animal who has a healthy apetite is on its way to dying..congrats

That's never a fun thing to go through. I'm glad all is well...they're such amazing fish!!
