I'm setting up a 2nd hand 180g and 60/65g sump which was previously a marine tank. (live stock is in a smaller tank cause the previous owner had 3 small fish)
anyway, i've left the sump and tank empty without water for about 2 months. I was wondering if the silicone will be quite fine still.
I am in australia and its damn hot and im afraid of the silicone drying out quickly due to weather. I have run my fingers on some parts of the silicone and it doesn't seem dry.
I'd just like some other people's point of views on if the silicone is fine :D
 
No obvious peeling but im just a bit worried cause melbourne weather is crazy and i don't want the tank leaking a total of 240 gallons into aquarium room which has my computer right next to it

Definitely agree with Cortalus. You will need to fill it up and see what happens, preferably outside for you test.

Has it been sitting outside in the sun for 2 months? If it hasn't you shouldn't have any problems at all. If it has, you should be much more catious.
 
its been sitting in the house for 2 months, its already in the spot i want it to be. the blinds are usually closed.
bit hard to move it, if i want to test it outside =/

Good that it was inside while it was dry. Silicone should be good, but I would still be cautious in testing it in the living room. Your call though.
 
Also your living room...your significant other (if there is one) might not be happy though. I have irratated people with water on the floor before.

Ha true. Or on the off chance your in an apartment like me you get water on the heads of the floor below you. Won't make the mistake of overflowing my RODI filter water container again!
 
Its in my room which just cabinets and a computer, the floor is wood and theres a sliding glass door that is 5 feet away, which leads to the backyard and drains, so my parents shouldn't mind if it leaks a little.
im gonna fill the tank soon with just plain water and leave it for a week and see how it goes :D
