bellevue, ne
hello, im new to monster fish keepers and fairly new to the monster fish keeping biz. that being said here's the first of what will probably be many questions. i have a 8" clown knife and am currently keeping him in a 75 gal. i know that he'll out grow this and i plan on getting a house and buying a spectaular home for him. aproximatly how fast do clown knifes grow. also, im moving him from a set up tank that i have to a new tank. i will have access to the current filter and about 30 gal of water. is it a good idea to float the new bio-wheels in the current tank and whats the best way to introduce him to the new environment. thanks for any advice:help2: :feedback:

My old clown knife grew about 1/4" a month. The new Royal knife I have has grown about 1/2" in the month I have had him.

growth rate will really depend on several factors:
1. The fish (each is different)
2. The tank, whats the water quality, size of tank, surroundings
3. Diet (what its being fed/eating)

bio wheels need both air and water to continue supporting the bio load. if you completely remove it from water for a period of time, all the bio will die off. but you can't expose it to more than a brief moment to clean/chlorinated tap water either, as that will kill it as well.
