I have always had regular clowns until now. My new RCK is around 10 inches and he is ALWAYS hiding. I have yet to see him eat anything and have not seen his stomach look like he has ate either. I put krill in the tank late at night so that he can eat with the lights out however not seeing him eat is worrying me. Anything else I can do to try to get him to eat in front of me?

Maybe some live food will coax him out of hiding.

knife fish in general are very shy.
I have an african brown knife and ive had him for about 3 weeks now, hes only just become very active outside his hiding spot.
he used to sit in one spot allll day... wouldnt eat untill a week after i had him... n then still he would eat like 2 blood worms n hide again.
nowadays though he comes out n wrestles my bichirs for food and hes not very shy at all anymore.
he even swims to the surface when i open the lid to see wat ill drop in...

They seem to take a while to acclimate to their new surroundings. Give him time and try some live foods like worms or your own tank-raised feeders. I've only had mine for a week now and I'm trying to get him off feeders, so I've been giving him earthworms. He eats when he wants to, but spends most of the daylight hours hiding.
It's obvious that the movement of the worms attracts him, and my ABK knife has developed a liking for them as well.
Lots of stories in this forum of Knifes taking up to 3 weeks to become acclimated and start eating and stop hiding so much. Some continue to hide, though.
