So you guys might already know that I have a 15in Royal Knife fish. A couple weeks ago I tried to put a 8in arowana in the tank with him and he ended up eating him. Well this weekend I went to get him some feeders and saw a 12in Albino Clown Knife for sale. He was so adorable I just had to buy him! The people at the store said that they should be ok together because the 15in'er couldn't fit the 12in'er in his mouth. Well long story short, I put them together and it was not pretty. At first they kinda rubbed up on eachother and then within 60 seconds the bigger one snapped on the baby. I immediately took the 12 incher out. Do you think that they will fight one or two times and then be ok or do you think that its a good idea to keep them seperated? The only reason I bought the Albino is because I thought they would look pretty together! Please someone help! I always see more than 1 knife in a tank. Is it possible that royals just dont get along with clowns?

It would be wise to keep them separated. While people have had a pair of Knives together before, most have been raised together since they were small. Larger ones are a bit more trickier. Some Knives are just more aggressive and won't like another knife. Maybe if you put the tanks together so they can see each other and the bigger one can get used to seeing the smaller one around.

probably not gonna be able to put them together unless they were raised together and since they weren't raised together its probably not gonna happen. sorry

Ugh that sucks! We just upgraded to a 125gal tank and we put the new albino knife in our old 55gal tank. I guess this means I am going to have to start looking for another new tank......
