Has anyone see a knife get burned by a tank heater, or do they get some type if skin desease? My knife seems to have what looks like a burn on one side of hs body and my pleco , that i have since removed wants to suck on the wound? HELP! IS there any medicine to use for this?

i myself do not know but to save you some time the people who will know will ask for pics so might help both if ya post some of the places.

yep.. Pics... But it's also very likely the pleco caused the problem to begin with. I'm guessing it's a common pleco, which are notorious for attacking tank-mates as they get larger. Pics to confirm but thats where I'm leaning. your best bet atm to help your fish is to keep your water perameters pristine to encourage healing and to help ward off infection until you can diagnose the issue. Also avoid anything stressful to your fish unless absolutely neccisary.

Hey man the exact thing happened to me. My BGK fell asleep behind my heater and got burned.. I grew him 3-8in in 6 months. He died the day after the burn. If yours is still alive, you got a chance but a slim one. I would get some melafix, and add some salt. Take it from an experienced BGK owner, the melafix is somewhat an old wives tale, but I have noticed faster recovery with it then without, and the salt will not hurt your BGK, 1 teaspoon per 10gal should be fine, your not treating for ICH here but the extra electrolytes will reduce the stress of your fish. If it starts looking worse, some pictures would help us identify if it proceeded to a bacterial or fungal infection - if you go to treat for this DO HALF DOSES. Your fish is already stressed and a knife-fish. I would do daily water changes as well. And your knife is moving way too fast and all the time for the pleco to have done this, unless m a y b e it was a really small tank and a large pleco, but I doubt it. I moved my heater and put it horizontally and on the bottom, and haven't had a problem since.

Keep up on water changes and add some salt. Just use half the recommended dosage for the BGK.

Thanks all for the advice, so far he is still living. Have not seen him eat anything in a couple of days though.
Sorry for no pictures but I moved him to another tank with a nice cave set up for him that he just took to. I don't want to stress it out anymore so i will leave it be and see if the salt help and he start to eat within the next few days
