I have had my RCK for about 3 weeks now, and he has been doing great. I finally got him to eat, and he has a great appetite.

However, today I noticed these white splotches on his back. I scooped him up to take a closer look and it isn't raised, or even indented, but they are evenly spaced down his back, and a little on his dorsal as well.

I am hoping this is from his hiding place, and he has just been rubbing his back while trying to hide. If so, I will find a new smoother piece of deco for him to hide behind.

Has anyone seen this on scaless fish? I will try to get a pic if possible, but he wiggles around a lot...

He still has a great appetite and is not flashing or rubbing.. So I am just confused.

CKs aren't scaleless. They actually have very small scales. It's possible that it's rubbing against something hard and knocking off it's scales.

Oh, I have always been told that "scaless" and soft scaled (or small i guess) was the same thing.

But that is good to know... I will keep an eye on him and see what happens. I am going to do a water change tomorrow, and add some more Melafix to see if it goes away.

It just seemed to appear over night, and it is also on his little dorsal fin, so i know its not having scales knocked off there....

:( Well I hope it heals up... Thanks for letting me know about his scales! I had been confused about that for a while.
