Well today I walked in and my royal knife was swimming crazy all over the tank and running into things. This is the same behavior that my last RCK did before it died. Water parameters are good, he has been eating. I have no idea what it could be. All other fish in the tank are fine. Temp is at 81.5. Is it a swim bladder problem?

I think swimming around and bumping into things is an indication of stress..does it have tankmates? which can be causing the stress..I don think its a swim bladder problem knives just naturaly swim around like their gliding...

I would think it was natural had it not happened 2 times before with other Royal knives and then having them pass away suddenly. He has a Black aro, and 3 finfoil barbs as tankmates. He has plenty of hiding spots and no reason to be stressed. He will spin circles, run into things, float, and then dive back into his hiding spot.

not sure what it is but i have lost angels clownloaches and others to something that manifests itself like that. Id be interested to know also.

like I said before I had 3 do this before I got one to live. I am starting to think that the royals may have a genetic flaw. You don't see this much in regular clown knives. but its becoming regular with royals
