LFS has a few nice sized ones, and wanted to pick one up. I know they have a tendency to be aggressive, and was wondering just how aggressive they get towards other plecos. I currently have 2 sailfins that are larger then it that would be housed with it. Will I have problems? Tank is standard 125g.

IME they can be quite aggressive. I have a 30cm L190 who definitely is the boss and can give my 40cm Pt. gibbiceps a good beating if he wants. Only ends in scratches and torn fins so far. Similar sized ones are more likely to fight due to competition. The Pt. gibbiceps is boss over my smaller two L190 (22cm and 18cm) though.

My 3 Royals ( 8-10”) have staked out the bottom of a 6' tank into 3 territories..Whoa to the royal that ventures into new waters....it gets ugly but once an alpha is determined things settle down to minor scrapes and scratches..

I found with housing big plecos to set up consistent placement of feeding stations to keep the quarrelling down.

(BTW had to remove my 15" sailfin gibbi to another tank......the alpha Royal and him never agreed to disagree)

Depending on your 125g.. im assuming its 5 ft long?

Two sailfins assuming 8-10" means they will have established territory, with an addition of a Royal Panaque it might be ok..

Im saying MIGHT because if your Sailfins are any bigger... there will be territory disputes between the new pleco.. but ive known sailfin pleco to be pretty docile.. so a royal might be fine...

Just make sure you have driftwood... royals diet is algae, veggies and wood....

SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST!
