Royal Pleco-- holy crap!!

I added a 10" royal pleco to my tank recently, and all of a sudden the bottom of my tank is covered with crap! It's everywhere!! Is this fish THAT messy, or is it just a coincidence??? Thanks.

Yes they are messy fish and do create a lot of wast. That is why I call plecos poop factorys and don't keep them. Although there are a lot that I would like to keep and I am sure I am missing out.

Those big plecos can make a Budweiser Clydesdale draft horse look like an amateur in the long scat department. My 36" Panaque ground up 5-6lbs of driftwood a week plus several large pumpkin wedges, melon halves, etc. There were days when the sock filter looked like it was holding a weeks worth of old coffee grounds.

yeah well at least its emperor crap and not common pleco doodoo a 10" emperor shuold be easy on the eyes.

yea, I was kind of shocked at the logs that my tank was covered with when I got a big royal lol.

reason why i had to let mine go. it was almost 10". too much time cleaning out the poop/driftwood scraps. they just sit there all day grinding the driftwood.
