my royal pleco wont eat algae wafers.i've had him for about 2 weeks now. he'll eat the driftwood but not wafers. is this cause for concern or will he get enough nutrients from eating the driftwood?

Don't be too concerned. Keep offering him algae wafers. Give the dietary thread a read over.

Avoid cucumber. Stick to zucs, and try out sweet potatoes.

In time zuccinni he will take . Cucumber is garbage for plecos very little nutrtional value. As was said sweet potatoe is a good chioce also. Make sure he always has driftwood.

I had a royal that only ate his driftwood and he almost died as his stomach started to cave in, I ended up removing the driftwood and he ate my pelleted food and his stomach went back to normal

Mine ate only algae wafers for his previous owner.
Ate only driftwood in the tank I had him in.Ignored all else.For 3 years.
Moved him a few months ago.Now he ignores wood and wafers and will only come out for zuchinni.
Go figure.

My RP likes peas. I use frozen. Put them in a glass of tank water to thaw for a few minutes, then watch your favorite show while u squeeze em out of their skins (ie peel peas). These will sink and if your RP finds them he will be hooked- or at least mine was.

patience, he'll eventually eat it. plus feed it at night without lighting, also offer it every 3 days, see what happenes then.
