I know these guys grow super slow, is there anyway to speed up the growth by feeding them something?

I feed them cucumbers (lasts them about 7 days) when they finish that i give them a week of algee eating and i will give them sinking pellets every now and then.

What else could i do to beef them up.

feed algae wafers everyday. now this sounds a little odd, but make sure they are 100% vegitarian (no fish meal), such as wardley. IME plecos grow faster on a diet of only veggies. I know this sounds crazy.

I have loaded mine up with market shrimp and zuchini. I don't know if mine has grown any quicker, but he is def. nice and fat.

I actully ran outa algee waffers my bichirs loved them for some reason lol.

I'll go pick a big bag up on friday.

New diet:

Cucumber
algee waffers for a week

repeated.

thanks guys

cucumbers are mostly water, so it's kind of a waste of time. Make sure you have drift wood, it's necessary. I feed my royal shrimp, smelt, some veggies, and HBH cichlid sinkers.
Royals need protein.

variety is not a bad thing, either. make sure it's wardley. I have never seen a pleco grow faster then when it was eating wardley.

doh, you're right, rally. I keep thinking of my pleco.
they do need protein, so shrimp pellets and market shrimp would be good to include in it's diet.

Hmm well i only got 2 more cucumbers left so when they finish those i will try the algee waffers and shrimp along with pellets and some other stuffs.

I would not feed wardley personally. Get them on a high protein diet. Spirulina is readily taken by royals as well.
