Howdy,

I have a huge piece of driftwood that would benefit from a pleco chewing off some of it ;) I also have huge plants in the tank (Anubias). Some websites say that Royal will damage large leaves. What’s the experience here on MFK?

And while I have your attention, please excuse my ignorance, do Royals get along with each other?

thx
HarleyK

I’ve got two royals in a tank together. An l190 and an l191. Theres anubias and java fern in the tank along with three giant pieces of driftwood. They don’t eat any of the plants, and they get along fine.

I have two small royals together and they do fine. Now that I think about it though I haven't seen one of the two in a while. Time for a head count.

If you wish I can move one of my anubias to the tank with the royal plecos and can give you a summary of what happens? I think I still have some anubias.

If that works for you ?
You’re speaking in plural terms ... how many royals do you have???

I never kept royals so i dont know if they would eat the plants but i know that most species of plecos would kill one another if there isnt that much tank space or enough hiding places

I have two royal plecos.
I just realized my silver dollars will likely get to the anubias before the plecos could. I'm doing some moving around so I'll let you know how it ends.

I had a royal with java fern and other plants and he never showed any interest in them. Come to think about it, he never showed interest in anything but drift wood. I couldn’t even get him to eat Algae wafers.
