I just recently set up a tank specifically for my L330's . There is no substrate , I'm pleased with the sand like look of the textured painted bottom, plus it makes tank maintenance easier .

I currently have Anubias in my other pleco ( BN and L240 's) tanks , the plants are tethered to driftwood and have had success..

Does anyone have specific experience with Royal Plecos and Anubias / Java fern ?
or I'm I just providing an expensive dietary supplement for these bulldozers?
Would love to see pics of your setups along with your comments.

Tough call. From my experience it often varies from fish to fish. My L137s (not royals) used to destroy huge barteri in a matter of 2-3 days. They since gave up and I've had some success with Crypts, vals and some anubias. Just added an L27 and those plants have been devoured. Haven't seen the L27 actually eating them but he's definitely a prime suspect.

Plecos and plants have been a lot of trial and error for me. Give it a shot, worst case your royals get a treat.

I never found that my L191 specifically ate the anubias in my tank, but I think it just was aggressively algae grazing and damaged the leaves with those rasp-like teeth.

Since plecos prefer to stay near the bottom, you could try attaching your anubias to wood/sticks that are closer to the top of the water.
I have no issues with my anubias and plecos, but then again I don't have royals (I have L204, and had L114 and L7)

I moved the plants into the tank , I also order some bucephalandra. Time will tell now..

update.. Plants are untouched , after a couple days . The plecos spent the last couple of days polishing off a large yam..feeling more comfortable , going to add more plants today.

I think you will be fine.
Anubias are a tough plant.
I do more damage to the plants by not supporting their needs more so than the plecos and damage.

Keep the Anubias tied onto the driftwood above the ground level and it will also help keep them away from bulldozing bodies.
Let the driftwood take the beating.

You will like the combo.
I'm downsizing this year, but up until now, the Anubias and the beasts can live in harmony.
