hey guys im looking for a big liek cave / rock type thing for my tank... cant find a good one any were big enough... that or should i jsut get a bunch of plastic plants what do you recommend just looking for some good hiding material any links or suggestions?

either go with a bare tank or get some real plants. No caves/Rocks, they will only hide/bang into them all day.
 
dont want real plants, arnt fake ones just as good, also... u say they will hide / bang into them all day? i want them to have hiding spots lol? thats the point

you dont want to get some nice pieces of driftwood and fake plants?? thats how my old setup was but with real plants. tall nice driftwoods would be nice for hiding spots imo.
 
piranhas are not cave dwellers. as mentioned they will bang into them and get injured. a dense clump of fake plants and some bogwood in one side of your tank is the best,if you want hiding places for your piranhas. well settles piranhas seldom hide,and mostly hang out in the open water.but most like some floating plants above their heads.
 
Driftwood caves are all I use - all Piranha freak out from time to time - rocks esp. with any type of sharp edge could seriously injury them

i think your being a little paranoid here.

piranhas NEED cover to be healthy and unstressed denying them cover qualifies in my books as cruel and unnusual punishment. Whether this cover comes in the form of caves of rock or driftwood or plants the piranhas don't care.

There not going to bang into them all day they understand the concept of solid objects (other than glass which they can't see)
 
to me it sounds like no one really knows, i cant see my p sitting there banging against a cave? makes no sense my fish dont just run into any other decorations in my tank why would they go crazy at a cave? they chase each other but they maneuver around obstacles pretty good without hitting them
 
More likely they will freak out and knock the rocks over. I wouldn't do it just because a large sharp rock into the side of your tank could be a spendy problem to fix. Things for them to hide behind and out of eachothers path directly is more of the point IMO.
