i have a tank of rpbs and have kept artificial plants in them .. i have a whole bunch of live plants i wanted to put in but wasnt sure it the ps would eat them.?

I think you'll be fine in putting in the live plants. I've been using live plants for quite a while now, and the only time he has "eaten" any is when he is in pursuite of prey. I would expect a moderate amount of damage at fisrt, especially if you do not remove them from the tank first. If you need any further advice, I would be glad to help.

reds will eat most plants. start with chip ones and go from thier sword plants are best but are more money my rhom loves his plants. just try it. good luck

i dunno what JAWZ is talkin bout...i got all live plants and my rbp dont mess wid em, i would put amazon swords and driftwood

for the most part P's do not bother plants unless they don't like their position in the tank. You would be good with any low grassy plants. Swords are also good.
Most important thing is you don't want to get plants that will require alot of light because your P's come from low light waters and become more skittish when its too bright.

P's will sometimes nip at plants but generally they will leave them alone unless you missed feedings and they are hungry

I thought you were all expert like. why are you asking such interesting questions?

i've just set up a tank hoping to get some piranhas to put in there...

im plannig on 5 smalls ones then expand the tank in a bit...(as they need)

so far there is sand.. bog/drift wood, with java fern and java moss on..(i;ve always had sucess with those plants) just waitin for it all to settle down now.. got a plec in there at the mo..
