The raph will grow to be larger than the cuda. And when full grown if the raph were to get really hungry it may try to eat the cuda.

But thats not likely to happen as long as you keep the fish feed well.

If it were me I would start out with a cuda that was 2" or so bigger than they raph. And multiples of each. As cuda do not do very well as single specimens. They rely on there shoal in the wild for protection and hunting. And when kept alone they become very skittish and are more prone to disease from the stress.

Okay I will take that into consideration then. My raph seems calm, he is currently with a baby whale mormyrid of similar size and they aren't having any problems and the raph gives him his space.

I want to get something sharky looking, and I also want some predatory fish, no cichlids though. Do you think you might have some ideas on what could go good with it?

Your idea is perfect.

As with any tank containing predatory fish, you just have to keep them fed well. And match the sizes of the fish accordingly.

How many is it best to have together?

As many as your tank will handle. Is the simple answer.

Most say minimum of 3 for schooling behaviour. Personally I think that really calm down and do better with 5 and up.
