Is it true that when the female lays her eggs, that it stops her growth.

I've never heard of it before. Doesn't mean it's not true. There are a lot of things I've never heard before. My guess though would be false.

with any fish when they start producing eggs they will slow down their growth alot b/c they are putting more energy into reproduction instead of growth.

i had a female convict who spawned at 2" ad at that she stayed. her mate is now 6"
