Good job getting rid of soil substrate! Newsprint is much more sanitary.

My only suggestion is to give that guy some cover in that big tank. Throw in some fake leaves, vines, or if you are really on a budget, just ball up some newspaper sheets and throw them on the bottom to give him some stuff to crawl through and feel safer.

i thought you was 'borrowing' it off a mate?

Well, he found one for free and "couldn't" pass it up.

Where is the temperature and humidity gauge in that cage? Their needs to more hides, make sure that lid is escape proof, why are you using lights? they dry out the tank and arn't good on electricity. I suggest using a heat pad, when I had snakes, I only used heat pad.

there is a digiatal thermomenter/hydrometer in the tank,in the top left corner.

Boas need basking light also z trip.

Im going to add vines also thanks, and rainforset suction cup leaves.

I agree, I only ever have heat pads, statted of course, but for my boa i may have a asking spot for it when its older.

Lovely Snake; Poor Setup.

I would hate to be an animal in such a setup, are there even any hides in there?!?

This is EXACTLY why animals shouldn't be given away. People should research and BUY the animals they really want, not just impulse freebies whatever they are. Aoyyy.

one hide? hes going to choose hide over temp mate. Give your animals an actual 'home'. Not a bare tank :screwy:

LC I agree that the snake needs more hides and cover of some sort.

Also, you might want to place your temp/humidity guages lower, towards the floor of the cage since that's where your snake spends most of its time - getting a reading at the very top of the cage where the snake never is isn't exactly the most accurate thing, right?

While I do think that the tank is too big, with the right amount of cover and hides you may be able to get away with it since it is a boa and they aren't as easily stressed as other species (like ball pythons).

How many 55's do you have man? I don't know where you put all that stuff!
