i have a rtc and a 4 line in my tank with a small arawana. i have the top water fish and the bottom fish covered but im looking for something that will stick in the middle of the tank and will look interesting. I love cichlids but im worried about them messing the the arawana. i was looking at tinfoils and pacu's they appeal to me because they constantly swim and look nice. any other suggestions would be great. thanks guys.

how many gallons is your tank??

The RTC will grow 5 feet long I hope you know. They need atleast a 1000 gallon aquarium. If you can't house this fish, don't get one in the first place. I suggest to do your research before buying fish. The RTC will outgrow anything less than 3 feet wide in about a year.

yea im aware of their size.. i didnt ask for tank advice, i thought my question was pretty simple and still no one can give me an answer?

i would be worried about tankmates with a rtc, eventually you will notice the four line is missing, than the arowana.
redtails love to eat tankmates, and they have a massive mouth that makes it quite easy for them to do so

ok so the 4 line would be in danger when he tops out size wise.. but i have seen successful tanks with arawana and redtails?? do they really eat arawanas?
and would there be any reasonable tankmates for this monster??

rtc's only really play nice with other monsters, mainly other big catfish, and that is when they are given proper care. Arowanas can survive mainly because they are also big and stay away from the bottom of tanks.

Like others have said rtc's really belong in ponds, or super monster tanks that are really wide.
