I got a 4 inch Red tail Catfish with my 8 inch florida gar. Is there any possibily the gar could eat him?. So far first day The gar is just looking at him. I figured the mouth is too small to fit the catfish. Does any body have any similar experience or combination of fish? Hopefully I'm not taking a big risk here.

what size tank are you thinking of keeping the RTC IN FOR LIFE

You should be fine I have the same combo of fish when I got my RTC my gar was 20" my cat was 7" they get alone fine now my gar is 23" my RTC is now 15" and he eats every thing he loves market shrimp

Thanks guy, Hopefully I save up some money in 6 months, I"m getting a 300 gallon for the garage just fot the gar and RTC.

killergar - to be honest you'll need more than a 300 for a fully grown RTC. More like 1000 gallons. They are massive beefy fish. How is a 4 foot RTC going to turn around in a 3ft wide tank?

So I would skipn the 300, and save more for a bigger tank.

RTC in a 300 gal oh well another short lived life for another RTC

PEOPLE RELLY SHOULD THINK LONG TERM WHEN THEY BUY RTC

im not sure how long RTC live but it must be 10yrs +

get the biggest tank you cant then see what will fit in it a 300gal is to small for a RTC

just put him in the 300 and eat him when he outgrows it..hehe
