RTC and TSN 1'st Birthday

Well its been a year since I bought both of these guys and they havent grown to monster size yet. The RTC is about 17-18 " and the TSN is about 18-19". They are fed 3-4 times a week and aside from eating every other fish in the tank,they have been hassle free. I'm gonna move them in about another 6 months to either my 300 gallon rubbermaid or build another pond of about 500-600 gallons. So far they have plenty of swimming room in their 265 and both huddle in the corner most of the time. This RTC is one of the best I've owned. He's a total ham and loves attention. So I guess its safe to say these guys grew about 12-15" in a years time WITHOUT being powerfed. I know they would have grown faster being fed once a day but whats the rush :D

How many tankmates have they consumed??
 
Looking good. I've had my tsn for about a year now and he's only grew to about 16", and I've only had my rtc for about 4 months and he's 14 1/2". The tsn has severe cranial deformity that's why i call him lumpy. I figure without that he'd be at least another inch long. So roughly 17". The rtc is a beast, and at the rate he's growing he'll be bigger than the jau in no time. Great cats, and yes your tank makes a suitible home for these monsters for at least another year I would think.

They were put into the 265 at about 4" or so and little by little consumed everyone. The list is as follows..........

...... 40 or so Giant Danio's
...... 8 Tin foil barbs
...... 10 tri color sharks
...... orange pike
...... 2 red devils
...... 1 super nice 5" Frontosa
...... 2 green terrors
...... red tail shark
...... 2 nice 6" black sharks
...... 5 super nice gold Sevrums
...... 2 green Sevrums
...... Lima shovelnose
...... 2 Raphael cats "one got stuck!!!"
...... 6 Convict's
...... 2 mean Buttikoferi's
...... Another RTC of almost equal size !!! I saved him though. He was consumed by this RTC at least 4 times before I finally had to seperate them. Got lucky every time.

I think that is it :cry:

The funny part is I saved alot of fish before they were eaten. Most that were eaten fell into that......... They cant eat him YET category. RTC's can and will eventually eat everything in their tank, Even if you dont think they can :D

holy smholy! thats a ton of tankmates.

none about the same size tho eh? like 20" rtc, 18" tankmate missing?

i jus wanna make sure that when my rtc reaches 2ft, he wont be able to eat my other fish that are about 2ft... is it not likely but i know possible, but is it likely? i ask you because youve kept rtc before.
 
Had a 26" rtc eat a 15" large mouth bass. He also tried to eat a 14" oscar, but died in the process. Got stuck half way down. Thought the oscar was way too tall for him to attempt, but he got it in his mouth, and tried to spit it out and all the barbs on the oscar's back ripped through the side of his mouth. I cut the oscar out, but the rtc only lasted about 24 hours after that. Oscar died about 2 weeks later. Don't know how he was still alive. He didn't have any scales left so I didn't think he would make it, plus I cut the dorsal fin off to get him out. The same cat tried to eat a 16" pacu, but just pummled it half to death. He easily ate a 2' garter snake if that says anything. Like a noodle slurp! I was dumb when I started out. That was a long time ago.
