The lfs has a RTC for $30 I am thinkung about picking him up. The only question I had was will he be able to go with peacock bass? Thanks!

assuming the bass are big enough to not be food and you have a huge tank to house the catfish then yes go for it... better than being stuck in someones 10 gallon

Yeah they are about the same size at about 5''. I know the cat gets bigger than the bass. Will it out grow it enough to eat it? And do they grow at about the same growth rate?

RTCs grow HUGE, much larger than Pbass. You need a tank that holds thousands of gallons of water in order to properly house an adult RTC. If you can't or won't be able to obtain such a tank, don't get the RTC. To get back to the Pbass, it would be an RTC snack in a month.

Doesn't sound like you're ready if you aren't even aware of how ridiculously fast they'll overtake your pbass in size. I'd do some more research, then reconsider.

i agree with justonemoretank do alot more research then see if u are ready to meet the rtc standards.

I will do some more research, but I do know they are able to get 4' or more. I was just making sure that he could be with my pbass for a month or 2? Because I have a 100gal tank that the bass is in right now and is a grow out tank for it. My plan was to have the bass and catfish in that for a month or so till I get a 200gal for my bass and I am building a 1100gal pond for the red tail. I had always planed on getting the cat for the pond I am building, but I saw the one at the lfs and thought I was ready but I guess not. I guess I will just keep building for now and get him when the pond is ready. Thanks for the responses and concerns:)

No...No...NO.....

The RTC WILL out grow your pbass in 2 months.

Lets see....ummm, lets say your pbass is 6'', and you get the RTC at 5''.... No more bass left.
If you get the RCT at 5'', in two months the cat will get 10'' and your bass will still be dinner.
Expect the cat to grow 2 to 3'' a month. 18 to 24 inches the frist year.

So....if you can, build the pond first, then get the cat.

Learn from my stupid mistake. i had about a 6" redtail and 3, 3"-4" pbass. left the light off to go to work to come back to 2 missing pbass, and the other messed up a bit, and one fat @$$ catfish...:irked: soo the second it outgrows the pbass, im sure they will become food. I traded my rtc for more pbass the other day. It doesnt have to be much smaller to fit in a rtc's mouth. and theyr always hungry.
