I noticed a small portion of my RTC had a bit of what looked like excess slime... any thoughts?

They will shed their slim coat, stress, bad water parameters can cause it. But they will do it from time to time on their own with nothing wrong. It also mentions this in one of the stickies.

id do a water change to be safe, cant hurt!

The thing was that it happened after a water change... maybe he was just a little stressed... everything seems fine now

Once in a great while our RTC will shed its slime coat too (like maybe every 3-4 months or so). Think it may just happen 'cause our water is clean and he's definitely not stressed.
