Where the gators are
Alright so ive been thinking about this for awhile. Was wondering if this has ever been done in captivity? And what would it take to accompli9sh this? Say if the reasources were available what would it take? Outside of using a section of river or lake what would you need?

Water capacity?
Temp?
WC Rates and Amounts?
Substrates?
And whatever else would come into play.

If anyone comes across other articles please post them here and lets see where this goes.

Lets start with the tank volume

Bare min for these guys is 1500 gallons already so would somewhere along the lines of 3500-4000 gall be enough?

I had asked the same and pretty much seems nobody knew. I have 2 rtc's now that are always "hugged" up but im sure they are too young to breed cause they are only 1ft each but would definitely want to know the breeding scenario.

I'm sure fish farms have bred them in captivity, thus also the existence of the hybrids,
I wonder if the Red tails are also bred by 'test tubes' instead of the fish doing the naughty naughty

I thought that most of the RTCs were takin out of the wild? Because most of these fish migrate to the spot they were born to reproduce.

yeah but think about how many eggs get layed by each female. Lionfish can lay millions of eggs at a time. And the growth rate of these guys leaves a short window for predators to kill them. I think ive came across RTC farms as well. But they breed them in huge lakes.
