While i have been looking at other peoples RTCs I have noticed something. Some of them have spotted heads and white tummies, while mine is solid black except for a white line running along his lateral line. Mine also has 2 dots around the dorsal fin and his tail is not very red like some of the pics i have seen. Will his color change to be like the others or will he keep this beautiful black color?
Either way i love my cat!!! :headbang2
Just curious of the differences, or maybe different species. He has already put on an inch in the 2 weeks i have had him.

As it grows larger, it probably will develop the spots on it's head.

They are kinda like finger prints, they are all different! Fast learners.... we tough the one that I had when you tapped on the glass he needed to come to the top to get fed.

Here is my first one(2" to 24" in 15 months)

the one i got has gained his spots on his head has he got bigger. he is now 20 inch. some develop shades of yellow on the white part of the body and some have red bits in the dorsal fin and some don't. some have real bright red tails some don't. i have heard regional location makes a difference but i have not personally witnessed this yet. i don't know whether diet can make a difference too or water chemistry too. who know's?? lol

yeah they are quick learners, most fish are. i read an old old old book about how a guy taught his Clarotes Laticeps/Aluminium cat (may be an old spelling) to go searching for food when he blew a whistle. if you do something distinguishing when ya feed ya fish, they learn to associate it with there food. just like the whistle.

some fish go crazy wen you put your arm above the tank its the same concept.

nice RTC ya got yaself there mate. nice one
