My RTC is about 9" and he doesn't seem to have as much of an appetite as my 1st 1 did so question 1. Is he ok? He seems fine, good colour, swims well and not a mark on him, to the eye he looks absolutely perfect condition. Water is fine as well
Amo 0 nitrItes 0 nitrAtes -0.25 temp 82f
2nd question is how often should I be feeding him? My 1st 1 used to get fed 5 days a week and fasting 1 but this guy doesn't seem to want food every day, is this normal or should I be concerned?

mines the opposite he wants food all day everyday, i feed mine massivore wafers he doesnt seem to like much else beside live food

The 1 I had before was like that, it would eat as much as I would put in there but this 1 seems a bit more shy and fussy :/ I guess if he seems healthy and his weight looks good then he must be ok?

I think you can try lowering the temp to ~78 F and seeing if that makes a difference. IMO, the temp is a bit on a high side, even with vigorous water agitation. Also, the thermometers we use are rarely good to 1-2 degrees. The real temp may be 84 F (or course, when guessing like that it may be at 80 F also).

I'd not feed again until the tummy goes flat.

Probably. At 9" not critical but does he have a place to hide? Are there aggressive tankmates (I understand you had said he has no mark on him) but anyway?

Have you tried putting food in there when the lights are off. Not sure about RTC's but the seemed to help with my bullhead and channel cat.

I'd put the foods in when I went to bed. And by morning they'd have round bellies and the food was gone.

Thanks for the replies, ok I will try lowering the temp a bit and see if that helps, he doesn't have a place to hide anymore because he was pushing the large piece of wood around so much I was worried about him hurting himself or tank mates, no aggression that I have seen, the only thing i'v got that people say can be aggressive is a jardini but my one has never shown aggression, and yes I feed at night, I normally feed just before I turn the lights off
