I know everyone say Red Tails grow very quickly, Im looking for actual facts and experiences, I have a very small Red Tail right around 5'' long, I purchased the last week of July 2010 at around 1''-1.5'' I have him currently in a 150 gallon and will be moving up to my 275 gallon, We will be upgrading once more this march after our wedding, In your honest opinion what could I expect from this date 8-12-2010 5'' long, to 3-19-2011? Will my 275 be big enough. What size could I expect by then?
The pictures were taken tonight, I currently feeding half a full anchovie in the morning and the other half a night, I can not get to eat pellets at all and I dont really plan on having a pellet diet when its huge, I think it was a pretty good buy, i picked up at the indoor swapmeet in vegas with one tank at their store, it was an actually bird store i picked up for 12 bucks.
thank you

It's all depend on how much you feed your fish, this is what I get from Li's RTC growth:
9/14/09 - 4"-5"
10/10/09 - 9"
5/28/10 - 18"
Your RTC probably will be 18" by then. You have a 150-gal tank. It should be fine, assume your tank is at least 18" wide, or 24" wide (better). It wouldn't be a problem, if you keep it in your 275-gal tank.

I'd say he will grow at a minimum an additional 14" with a max of 24" in that time, all depends on your feeding.

They grow about 1-2" a week, I know my RTC X TSN grew about 2" a week for a month one time but then it slowed down to 1" every two weeks. It all depends on how you feed them too, Mine was fed a piece of krill a day at the same size as yours and grew very quickly. So it should be at least 18-20" by your wedding.

Thank you so I am safe to assume my 275 will be enough until then, We are currently in the process of buying our new home, It has a very large courtyard in front of the door we have plans on building our pond with a waterfall, between april - may 2011
