guys i need help for Bubba, my 8 inch RTC.

heres what happened:

recently, my 14 inch gator gar, 8 inch RTC and my 8 inch Sperata Aor were in my 60 gal tank they have lived there for 2 months, no aggression of any sort and all well fed. one day, when i got home i was surprised to see the tip of the tail of my sperata hanging out the mouth of my gators mouth. i rushed and pulled out my RTC. and transfered him to a temporary tank. for the past few days the RTC didnt eat anything its the third day today and im kind of worried. i thought it wasnt happy in the temp tank so i got another 60 gal and put it there. i dont think it came from the new water since i cycled the volume properly before i put the RTC in the new 60 gal. it also is loafing around the surface and refuses to lie on the bottom like it normally does. will upload a video soon. i need help guys... is my RTC sick?

much thanks,

they can go for up too two weeks in the wild without food...so ive heard
i wouldnt be woried yet they are real hardy fish
next time you move a fish..what i do is i feed them as much as they will eat right before i move them, that way if the dont eat for a few days its not such a bother

good luck

@goestonemoa,

usually he stuffs himself full to the point of bumping my gator gar for more food. i dont understand the behavior and the not eating part. its the first time its doing this. thanks

what are your exact water parameters? seems to me like you may be having a spike of something from all the moving things around, and how often are you doing water changes? a 60g tank is what to small for a 14in fish of any kind, especially with tankmates

yeah for sure you need them to be in a much wider an larger volume tank. thats probably your first big issue. im sure your rtc will calm down in a week or so- just stop giving him food for a few days then try to feed him.

the water company has been doing some repairs of late. i just knew about it now. i just moved the rtc form the tank in fright of my gator attacking it in light of what happened to my sperata. yeah i do agree that since i got the gator it jumped to 14 inches in 2 months. will be building a indoor pond soon and will move the gator there. im just fixing things around the house so it could fit. much thanks :D

yup will look for a way to house them in a bigger tank soon since just after a month or two the tanks wont fit the fish anymore. i do hope it quiets down soon. im quite worried about it.
