all i have to say is the rtc is the best catfish in the world...i have had myne for little over a month and a half and he is already like 5-6 inches and i got him he was only 2...is that good growth or wat...i have recently just started feeding him...freeze dried krill and he absolutely loves it he comes right to the top and takes the food and my mom gets a kick out of it....but has anyone seen this growth in and rtc before or is it just me
 
I haven't kept one personally but I always here people saying that they reach at least a foot in the first year so it sounds pretty reasonable.
 
yeah they are sweet and the new tank is soon...just have to see if im moving...and i recently got a 1 incher ...
 
dont worry im on it...i am in the process of something big in my basement if i get the ok from the rent....or ill just put it in the oscar pond at my school wich is a 1000 gallons...
 
yeah not many fish grow like a baby rtc
 
I think 12" in a year is hogwash. Mine has grown 12" in 6 months. And for the last 3 months I have been trying to keep him on a moderate diet to help "slow down" his growth just a little bit. It hasn't helped. Fortunately my aro and pbass have been keeping pace.
 
Yep they are just cute and adorable little fishies allright - until they start swallowing your fish, then they arent so cute....

He will be swallowing full size oscars in no time flat LOL :ROFL:

I do like them however, and can be very tame and be held and fed by hand.
It just stinks that even 1000 gallon tanks could be considered small when they reach full size 4ft or so
